Wisdom From Abraham Lincoln

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance” (Psalm 33:12). As President’s Day approaches, it is wise to remember the words Abraham Lincoln said: “We have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, multiplied and enriched, and strengthened us. And we have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our hearts that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own, intoxicated with some broken success. We have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace; too proud to pray to the God who made us.”

Oh my friend, if ever there was a time to pray, its now.

It’s time to pray.

    Dear Pastor Carter!
I hope this is not too late to share! On Christmas Eve I was visiting my parents in southern Indiana. Dad is 84 and mom is 76. We were all in the kitchen talking as mom was preparing the meal. I made this comment about memories of Christmas when I was a child back in the early 70's. Dad would take mom and I to a family dinner with the Lion's Club families in early December. The Lions liked to sing before the meal, and would be singing Christmas songs, one of which included, "Silver Bells". Dad made the statement that song had been a favorite Christmas song of his at one time! The next morning, as we were starting the new day, I was listening to your devotional for Christmas morning, and you began by singing, "City sidewalks, busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style...., yes, you were singing the very song we had talked about the previous afternoon! God had been listening to our conversation! I shared with dad and mom! What a Christmas gift! Thank you Jesus!!!!
