Who Left the Door Open

Psalm 141, beginning at verse 2: “Let my prayer be set before you as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice; set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth. Keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing; to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity, and do not let me eat of their delicacies.”

Of all of God’s creation, only human beings have the power of intelligent, calculated speech. That’s because you and I are created in the image of God. When He spoke, both things and life were created from only His words. We, too, can build life with our words. But if we don’t guard the door of our lips, things can get in there that cause hurt. That’s why our lips need a doorman.

If you don’t have one, ask God for yours today. He’s available 24/7, free of charge.

It’s time to pray.

Last night i reacted in anger and i said things i should not have said. This morning i came to pray and I repented, but i didn't want to stay and continue to pray, i felt like i wanted to "run" from God because of what i'd done. So I repented and i asked God to please help me.Then i was going to "run" off to read the news online so i could "hide". As i came on computer i felt to just check out the prayer requests very briefly and then head for the news. As i clicked on it's time to pray,I saw this radio devotion by pastor Carter.I stopped and listened to it, and I am amazed how timely this message is for me this morning, and by how God heard my prayer minutes ago to help me.I wanted to "run" from God and hide because i felt awful, but listening to this message and knowing God had just heard me repenting and asking for His help, I am amazed by the God we serve! I feel His tenderness for me,when i was expecting His anger.
Jesus, how can you love a sinner like me so much? I don't understand how.
And You didn't let me run off and hide in shame this morning. You let me know that You heard my prayers, that You see my struggles, and You don't despise me. I have hope now, instead of the fear that you are mad at me. I am sorry for the way I behaved last night. Forgive me Lord.
Lord set a guard over the door of my mouth, do not let my heart incline to any evil thing.Help me to build with my words and not tear down. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, I need You please. Thank You for loving me. I bless You Lord Jesus. I am forever Yours. Amen.
