Ecclesiastes chapter 2, half of verse 3, Solomon says these words, “I searched in my heart how to gratify my flesh with wine, while guiding my heart with wisdom.” You think of the tragedy of this man’s life, given the ability of God and the responsibility to guard the testimony of God on the Earth; to design and to protect the temple of God, a place of prayer where people were coming in, having their prayers answered.
You would think there would be no more pinnacle of spirituality than that moment. But yet, somehow in the midst of it all he got bored, and when he got bored the very first thing he began to do is he began to drink wine. And you and I know ultimately where that led in his life. What a tragedy it is.
Pray that we don’t give in to these desires of the flesh.
It’s time to pray!
