The book of First Samuel, chapter 30, and verse 6, “Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.”
It can happen to the most victorious and optimistic of believers in Christ: just like a serpent coming into a garden; depression can strike even before we know it’s there. Sometimes it’s for no reason. Other times it comes, as with David, when things seem to have gotten out of control. Often it brings the poison of regret with it.
David did what we should; he remembered how good God has been in his life and went back to the place of prayer. The end of the story is just told in three words, “David recovered all.”
It’s time to pray.
