The book of 2 Kings, chapter 19, speaks about Hezekiah, one of the Old Testament kings. His land was invaded by an arrogant enemy who sent letters to him, declaring, “What we have done to others, we are going to do to you. They were powerless to stop us, and so are you powerless!” He even sent him a letter with his threats on it.

But Hezekiah did what you and I need to do in our generation. He went into the house of the Lord and spread the threats of the enemy before God. He prayed; he declared God to be all-powerful and able to give victory. He trusted in God for the victory when it was impossible for this to happen in human reasoning or in human strength.

If you read the story, you will find that God did the miraculous and completely vanquished that force that was about to destroy His nation. Victory will come if we pray.

It’s time to pray.

In this day we live in may we still remember what Hezekiah prayed : “O Lord God, you are God alone of all the kingdoms of the earth. It is you who made the heavens and the earth. Open your ears to hear our prayer, O Lord, and open your eyes to see what Sennacherib has said to us mocking you! It is true that they destroyed the gods of those other nations because they were not gods at all but mere statues that were made by men. So now, Lord, save us please! Save us so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, and you alone, are God!”
