The book of Daniel, chapter 5, verse 23: “And you have lifted up yourselves against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines have drunk wine from them, and you have praised the gods of silver, and gold, brass of iron, wood, and stone, which did not see or hear or know. And the God who holds your breath in His hands and owns all of your ways, you have not glorified.”
These are the fearful words spoken to a self-indulgent people who were parting with the holy things of God—unaware that while they were doing so, the enemy had come in through the front gate. Evil had become good to the point that God could no longer tolerate it. Who knows what would have happened if they would have humbled themselves to pray? They didn’t, but we still can.
It’s time to pray.
