The book of Jonah, chapter 1, beginning at verse 5, “Then the mariners were afraid; and every man cried out to his god, and threw the cargo that was in the ship into the sea, to lighten the load. But Jonah had gone down into the lowest parts of the ship, had lain down, and was fast asleep. So the captain came to him, and said to him, ‘What do you mean, sleeper? Arise, call on your God; perhaps your God will consider us, so that we may not perish.'”
It’s occurred to me, lately, that we are living in a season when many who are afraid for their futures are looking to you and to me for divine help. What a tragedy it would be if those of us who have the power to move the hand of God simply choose comfort over sacrifice, letting this generation drown in their sin. Jonah arose and made a difference.
It’s time to pray.
