In the book of first Samuel, chapter 17, in verse 4, the Scripture tells us that the Philistine army—who were the enemies of the testimony of God—had a champion whose name was Goliath. He stood incredibly tall in natural, human strength. There must have been a question among the people: “What are we to do? How do we counter this that has come against us?”
We must remember though that God also had a champion. He had a young boy who, in the physical sense, didn’t look like he was any match for what he had to face. But David knew how to pray, and because he did, he laid hold of the power. One more time, with the miraculous strength that Christ is willing to provide for you and me today, David changed the course of history.
We must lay hold of God again. We’re facing formidable enemies in our society. You and I must pray again.
