Matthew chapter 6, verses 7 and 8: “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do, for they think they will be heard for their many words. Therefore, do not be like them, for your Father knows the things that you have need of before you ask Him.”
Have you ever been with somebody who just doesn’t stop talking? Have you felt how wearisome their company is? You know, most often, I have observed that those types of persons don’t really have much to say. They just continuously think of new ways to say the same things over and over again!
Jesus essentially said, “Don’t pray like that! Just talk to Me the way you would talk to a friend.” Make it personal. Pause. Ask for His opinion and let Him speak to you. Remember, quietness can also be prayer. Take time to listen to what He has to say.
And remember, it’s time to pray.
