The gospel of Matthew, chapter 19, verses 16 to 21, tell us of a very wealthy and religiously zealous young man who, in the presence of Jesus, seemed to feel that something in himself was missing. Now, as he did, we today would be wise to ask the same question to Jesus: What do I still lack? Why, as the body of Christ, are we gathering on every corner yet not seriously affecting our community?
Jesus told him to let go of that in which he had come to trust. In our case, that in which we come to trust is our resources, our methods, and other things are leaving us empty. We must be willing to let it go and decide, from this day forward, that we are going to walk with Jesus.
It all starts with you and me returning to prayer. Now, this young man walked away from the call on his life, but you and I are given a chance to pray.
It’s time to pray.
