In the Gospel of John chapter 16 and verse 24 Jesus said these words to his followers, “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive that your joy might be full.”
Now how perplexing–that having walked with Jesus for three years, having seen His miracles, witnessing His power, seeing His compassion for the people–that these disciples had been, in spite of this–silent when it comes to prayer.
I think about you and I today or many churches across the nation where we have the testimony of scripture, we know of the compassion of God, we have the history of His miracles; yet He looks down upon the churches of this nation and says until now you have asked nothing in my name. “Ask and you will receive that your joy might be full.” My brother my sister, Jesus wants to answer prayer.
It’s time for you and I to pray!
