Psalm 41, “Blessed is he who considers the poor, the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, he will be blessed on the earth. You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness, you will sustain him on his sick bed.”
Thankfully today there are still many people who are willing to consider that the roadway to protection, to health, to blessing, runs through the places where the poor of this world live. Passing through this valley of weeping, you and I allow the compassion of Christ to see through our eyes, to comfort with our words, and flow through our hands. Perhaps it’s time for some to exit the highway of self-seeking and travel the places where the true strength and blessing of God are found. The hour is late. It’s time to consider this thing. It’s time to pray.
