The gospel of Matthew, chapter 2, verse 11, says these words: “And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with His mother, Mary, and fell down and worshipped him. When they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”
Now you and I know that these were wise men that brought gifts to the baby child Jesus. Gold because He was a King, frankincense because He was the Son of God, and myrrh because His coming death and burial would pay the price for our sins. If you and I too are wise today, we can bring to Him this Christmas something that they couldn’t. You and I can lift our voices to Jesus, knowing that in Him, the mercy of God already has been revealed. We can ask God for that same mercy to be made known to many, many people in our time.
This Christmas, let’s remember it’s time to pray.
