John chapter 8, beginning at verse 31: “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.'”
This coming July 4th, we will celebrate as a nation what I suppose could be defined in one word: freedom. But are we really free? Casting off the truth of God, we become, in essence, slaves to our own passions. Consider the divorce rate, the breakdown of family, the astronomical rise in depression, suicide, and violent crime just as an example and ask yourself the question: are we really free? And if not, then why are we so afraid of the truth?
I have an idea: let’s you and I, as the people of God, get really free and show this generation what freedom looks like. It’s time to pray.
