The gospel of Luke, chapter 6, and verse 38, Jesus said: “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
My father was stationed with the Air Force in England during World War II. He loved to tell the story of how one Christmas Eve, he was approached by an elderly couple who invited him to their home for Christmas dinner. Sitting alone at the table with them, he asked them, “Why have you invited me here?”
They replied, “We have a son fighting for freedom in Europe. And we hope that someone will do for him tonight just as we are doing for you.”
My father never forgot their act of kindness. I believe it was one of the steps that brought him to open his own heart to the ultimate kindness and goodness of God found in Jesus Christ.
It’s time to pray.
