Psalm 1, beginning at verse 1, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
People are given to the weakness of scorn, which is the mockery of the ways and ideas of others. When scorn advances in a society, civil and respectful discussion is almost gone. Scorn is fueled by the absence of the thoughts of God, whose ways are true. It’s important today to remember that God promises stability, productive life, and endurance for those who love His word.
It’s time to pray.
