An Easier Path

The gospel of Luke, chapter four, speaks of a season when Satan himself tempted the Son of God. Verse 3 says, “And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.”

In other words, if you really are in relationship with God, then command these hard places that stand before you to be made easy, and use your power to your own advantage. Can you imagine if Jesus had fallen to this deception? He would’ve made the cross go away and would’ve sought an easier path. But He returned from this temptation in the power of the Sprit into Galilee and there went a fame of him throughout all the region all about.

We have to ask ourselves the question: Have we theologically commanded our stones to be made bread? Has our gospel been largely a self-focus, lacking in power? It’s never too late to come out in the power of the Spirit again and to bring Christ to fame. It’s time to pray.
