I’m reading today from a historical account of the great spiritual awakening in America 1905.
“In the Middle West, churches were suddenly inundated by great crowds of seekers. Every store and factory closed in Burlington, Iowa, to let employees go services of dedication and intercession. The Mayor of Denver declared a day of prayer. By 10AM churches were filled, by 11:30AM almost all the stores were closed–every school was closed. The Colorado legislature closed. 12,000 people attended prayer meetings in downtown theaters and halls. The impact was felt for years.”
Oh, what a tragedy: how far we have fallen from those days. But if you and I will begin to pray again, there is no valley so deep that the hand of God cannot reach down and lift us up again and bring us back into right thinking, and give us an awakening in America again.
It’s time to pray.
